First off, thanks for all your emails of support and the awesome reviews of Downstream Book 2. They mean a lot and I read them all.
I’ve had some consistent questions too, so thought I would shed some light on my plans.
It’s Q&A time 🙂
There will be a book 3, right?
Yep. Working on it now. I have lots more to say about Joe and his time traveling life.
I read your latest book in 10 hours. When is the next one out?
Whoa…. Slow down! They take me ages!! Seriously though, they do. My plan (all being well) is to have Book 3 out next summer. As part of my Reader Group, you will be the first to know.
Can I be a Beta Reader?
Yep. BETA Reader opportunities will be announced in the new year.
How many books will there be in the series?
My rough plan is for The Downstream Diaries to be seven books. This could change as I write them, but at the moment seven feels about right.
You aren’t going to make us wait years again, are you?
Er… No. That was (hopefully) a one-off. I threw myself into this writing thing full-time about a year ago so I could release my books on a regular basis. I know some Indie Authors crank out books every 3-6 months. Good ones too… Trust me, I wish I could, but my weird and wonderful creative process doesn’t allow it. I have to let the ideas marinate… and, I like to include Beta readers, get feedback and often ’discover’ the book as I go along. So, one a year probably. Sorry, but that’s just the way it is…
Are they available in Print?
They are now! For all you paper lovers, the Paperback editions of Downstream are available!

I’m considering creating hardback editions too. It’s quite a bit of work, but might be nice. I will keep you posted.
And, Guten Tag! to all my lovely German readers. A wonderfully translated, Paperback version of Book 1 is now available.

And… Book 2 is due to be released in about a week! Kindle and Paperback. Very exciting… Pre-orders have been strong and I can’t wait to have another of my books translated into German.
Alfie Update
We have lots of rain in the U.K. this time of year. Actually, all the time. I open the door and Alfie stares up at me, knees knocking. ‘Are you serious? We’re going out in this?!’
He means the rain, not the coat. I think…
Cool thing
Modern life can sometimes be rubbish but, it’s also amazing! My new audio recorder is high-quality, fits in my pocket and is perfect for dictating the new book while dog walking. Poor Alfie. He can’t escape me chatting about Joseph Bridgeman!
Watching – TV
The Kominsky Method: (Netflix) Michael Douglas is awesome. Well-written episodes about getting older but also wiser. Recommended.
Movies
The Shape of Water: Oh my goodness. I loved this… A masterfully crafted story, beautifully shot and a touching, highly emotive performance by Sally Hawkins. A timely, cautionary tale about prejudice, love and acceptance. Perfect. Actually, perfect.
Reading / Listening
All Our Wrong Todays, by Elan Mastai is an ‘alternative reality’ time travel romp and it’s great. Apparently, the author landed a $1.25m advance (!) Highly recommended – The book, and the advance if you can get it. It took me a while to get to this book and in some ways I’m glad. There are some definite crossovers in terms of ideas with Downstream Book 2. Funny how that can happen.
Oh, and I’m reading my usual dollop of non-fiction too. Particularly books on series structure (for obvious reasons!) And Deadwood. (Teaser for book 3 😉
Be happy.
