I thought it was time for a brief update. It’s actually been a crazily busy year on the writing front, but that doesn’t always equal new books on the hallowed shelves of Amazon unfortunately. I started out writing the third book in my Sci-Fi Human Hibernation series. I got half way through but something wasn’t clicking. So, I took some advice and shelved it for a while. It’s important to follow your heart in such matters and mine was pining to continue the Downstream Diaries. So, I threw myself back into that and an interesting thing happened…
I had alway hoped that there would be at least a few books based the life of Joseph Bridgeman, but I hadn’t really known how many exactly. As work began on Book 2 it became apparent that this was going to be a series that could run and run. If I assemble a team of characters and throw various mysteries at them, there is no need to rush or narrow the story. (Doctor Who, Quantum Leap?) Once that realisation kicked in, it also became apparent how much extra work would be involved in crafting a long-running series. I’ve had a couple of false starts and have probably been hell to live with but I think I am finally getting close to starting on Book 2. The wider world is taking shape nicely around Joe and things are definitely cooking. I will keep you posted on progress as I go.
So, to re-assure the kind person who emailed me the other day asking if I was still alive, the answer is Yes! Alive and kicking.. and VERY excited about Downstream Book 2.
